Known properties : Traditionally used as a sleep aid (in cases of restlessness or insomnia due to mental stress) and as a digestive disorders reliever such as dyspepsia.
Contains : Lemon balm (above ground parts) (Melissa officinalis), ratio 1:5, purified water, 27% natural grain alcohol.
Description : Lemon balm is an effective relaxant in cases of anxiety, light depression, nervousness and irritability. This is a wonderful plant when anxiety causes digestive problems such as indigestion, nausea, acidity, bloating, belching, flatulence and colic. It has a calming effect on the central nervous system. It is also recommended when cooling, as a sudorific or strengthens, but also for circulatory problems, heart palpitations from nervous origin, migraine, hysteria, melancholia and in case of dysmenorrhea.
Lemon balm balanced the functioning of the thyroid gland (hyperexcitability), which could inhibit the stimulatory effects of the TSH hormone on the thyroid.
Externally used, this plant treats cold sores (herpes labialis) by its antiviral property. It contains polyphenols that especially fight the herpes simplex virus that produces whitish vesicles. Thanks to lemon balm, the healing mean time of herpes is estimated at about 5 days and the frequency of eruptions is half reduced.
Recommended dosage : 1/2 tsp 2 to 3 times daily or as recommended by your health care practitioner.
Cautions and warnings : Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Melissa consumption in combination with alcoholic beverages, or any other drug or natural health products with sedative effects is not recommended.
Sleep aid: Consult a health care practitioner if insomnia persist beyond 3 weeks (chronic insomnia).
Adverse reactions : Some people may feel drowsiness. Use with caution if you need to drive heavy machinery or any motorized vehicle, or if you need to do activities that require alertness.
