Description : This formula is recommended in case of ulcers or conditions of inflammation and irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, or any other organ.
The slippery elm is used to treat inflammations and ulcerations of the digestive tract, to facilitate digestion, to treat inflammations of mucous membranes, burns, abscesses, vaginitis and hemorrhoids. It is considered a versatile softener; it exerts a beneficial action on the throat and on the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. On the other hand, like most woody plants, the elm contains complex substances called oligometric proanthocianidines which carry antiseptic and anti-allergic properties.
The marshmallow is rich in mucilage (20%), a thick and viscous substance to which it owes its emollient, slightly laxative, antitussive and anti-inflammatory properties.
The comfrey is also rich in mucilage (about 29%). This root contains allantoin, a healing component. It also contains rosmarinic, a phenolic acid which has anti-inflammatory properties. It is recommended for quick wound healing, treatment of respiratory and digestive diseases, and gastric ulcers.
