French name : Prunier d’Afrique

Latin namePygeum africanum

Type : Tincture

Known properties : Help to relieve symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Contains : Pygeum bark (Pygeum africanum), ratio 1:5, purified water, 25% natural grain alcohol.

Description : French and Italian people have made this plant the first-line treatment for prostatic hyperplasia. It seems that pygeum bark has an anti-inflammatory action and inhibits the development of tissues responsible for the prostatic hypertrophy. In addition, this plant helps to maintain the contractile function of the bladder in cases of partial obstruction.

Italian researchers administered a double dose of pygeum extract (200 mg per day instead of 100 mg) to 18 participants suffering from BPH or prostatis and sexual problems. They observed an improvement of sexual function in patients, even if no increase in hormone levels could be measured. Indeed, unlike many medications used for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, the pygeum bark extract does not seem to act on hormones. Tests on animals indicate that the plant rather has an anti-inflammatory action and inhibits the development of tissues responsible for prostatic hyperplasia.

Recommended dosage : 15 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times daily or as recommended by your health care practitioner.

Cautions and warnings : Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Rarely, it may cause benign gastrointestinal disorders.

Known properties : None known.

Size : 100 ml
